Sort Fields By

The dialog appears when you click the Sort Fields By button in the Display screen of the report wizard. It helps you to set the sort manner of the detail field values displayed in a table or banded object.

The following are the details of the dialog:

Resources

Lists all the available data resources.

Sort Fields By

Displays the fields on which the sort will be based.

Sort

Specifies the sort manner.

• Ascend
  If selected, data in the table/banded object will be sorted based on values of the specified sort-by field in ascending order.
• Descend
  If selected, data in the table/banded object will be sorted based on values of the specified sort-by field in descending order.
• Dynamic Sort
  Available for tables/banded objects created using query resources and when the sort-by field is a parameter. If selected, JReport will prompt you to specify a parameter name which will be displayed as the label for specifying the sort order.

Adds the selected field as the sort-by field.

Removes the specified sort-by field.

Moves the selected sort-by field one step up. The order of the sort-by fields determines the sort priority of the fields.

Moves the selected sort-by field one step down.

OK

Applies the changes and closes the dialog.

Cancel

Cancels the changes and exits the dialog.
